FATHER'S DAY

So as it got closer and closer to father's day I asked the kids to check with their dad and ask him what he wants for father's day.  Before I knew it Saturday was here and I have no idea what to get him, especially on a tight budget.  Austin was away at scout camp so I told Chance it was up to us to figure this one out on are own.  I asked Chance what we should get him.  He replied "I don't know every time I asked he doesn't tell me."  So I told him we needed to get something.  "Well, (long pause) he likes chips."  So when we went grocery shopping I let him pick a bag a chips out that Mike will like.  We did get him a new outfit for summer along with a bag of Lays BBQ.  Yum Yum!

FUNNY THINGS KIDS SAY!

I know I haven't blogged in a long time but I have to put some of these things that Chance says before I forget them.  I don't know where he comes up with this stuff but I think he has to be the funniest little boy I've met.

1.  Saturday we went to Lagoon for some fun.  The first ride that Chance and I went on was the log flume.  We waited about 1 hour in line and as we got to the front of the line Chance started to have second thoughts after watching everyone go down the hill and get wet.  I told him there was no way we were getting out of line after waiting all this time.  So we load ourselves in the log and Chance starts to have a little bit of anxiety.  Chance kept repeating over and over "Mom, I don't think I want to do this.  Mom I don't want to get wet.  Mom, will you protect me?"  I tried to reassure him that he was going to be fine and he will have fun.  As we started up the hill he turned to me shook my hand and said, "well, I guess this is goodbye!"

2.  Last weekend the boys and I went to Wyoming with my mom for my cousins daughters graduation.  As we are getting ready to hit the road the following conversation happened.
Austin:  "Let's leave the red head"
Grandma:  "We can't leave him, he's my favorite red head"
Chance:  "Let's leave the blonde"
Grandma:  "We can't leave him, he's my favorite blonde"
Chance:  (looking at his grandma) "Well your my favorite nut!"

3.  My sister, Heather, came in town the week after mother's day for a family funeral.  After the services we all went to my mothers house.  Heather's kids were at her friends house and Chance, my mom, and Heather went to go pick them up.  On the way back home in the car here is what Chance had to say to his cousins after not seeing them for several months.
Chance: "I have good news and bad news"
Kaleb: "Whats the good news?"
Chance: "I have a girlfriend, and I'm going to sleep over and grandmas tonight"
Kaleb: "So what's the bad news?"
Chance:  "Austin is trying to kill me."

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUSTIN!

Yeah!  Austin made it to 13!  His birthday was on a Wednesday so he received his gift from mom, dad, and Chance on the day of his birthday then we had some cake and ice cream on Saturday with the family.  Austin received a lot of fun and nice things for his birthday.  We gave him a fedora and a hair care kit.  He also received a fishing pole with a tackle starter kit, a new Nerf gun, the traditional birthday coupon to do what he wants with grandma and grandpa, and some money.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHANCE!

Chance celebrated his 7th birthday on Thursday the 4th.  He refused to turn 7 that day.  I think he was waiting for this party on Saturday to make it official.  On Thursday we let him open his present from mom, dad, and Austin.  He received a new pair of pajama's, which makes him look like the dragon Night Fury from How To Train Your Dragon.  He also got a volcano with a dragon egg.

Saturday we had some ice cream and cake (the cake was a rocket) with the family he received more great gifts.  He got some motorcycles, a monster truck race track, a bionicle, some money, and a new parakeet that he named Lemon Squeeze.

BITTER SWEET

So last Thursday I got a call from Austin and we was very upset because his pet parakeet, Sammie, just past away.  We're not sure why he died suddenly.  Austin said he came home from school and gave him is fresh water and food and he ate a little and then just moments later fell over and just died.  I felt so bad for Austin, he saved his allowance and bought this bird along with the cage, toys, and food just this past summer.  He even trained this little bird to sit on his finger and/or shoulder.

The following Saturday we visited a couple of pet stores looking at other parakeets.  We found some at the Pet Smart in West Valley that had some pretty colors.  We decided to go get some lunch and return to the store and make are selection. 

When returning the store we notice the Humane Society had arrived with dogs and cats for adoption.  When ever I'm at the pet store with the kids we always like to look at all the cute animals that are for sale and then go on are way.  But this time it was different.  I took one look at this adorable little Pit Bull mix and melted.  So needless to say we have a new addition to the Fountaine family.  His name is Gunner and he is a 8 week old little boy.  Are other dog, Cole, is extremely happy to have a little friend to play with and they are getting along great!

And in case you didn't noticed, Chance broke his arm and Cole needs a haircut ;-)
